Setting the Future with Quality Education
The workshop at the Ibn Haldun University in Başakşehir kicked off with a speech by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz, who urged students to equip themselves with the quality needed to carry Turkey into the next century. Emphasizing that societal change stems from individual change, Gündüz advised the students to focus on preparing themselves to be successful individuals who will carry Turkey forward into the future and be a cornerstone of civilization.
Building the Turkey Century
Gündüz highlighted the importance of individuals equipping themselves with capabilities that surpass their peers, stating that those who do not do so will have no place in the future world. He also stressed the need for countries to educate their youth according to the demands of the future, as global competition continues to intensify.
Importance of Long-term Goals
Board Vice Chairman Bilal Erdoğan mentioned the significance of setting long-term goals like the “Turkey Century” and the need for hard work to achieve such goals. He remarked that past ambitious goals like “Kızılelma” united people and drove them to work towards a common vision, but that politics can sometimes undermine such aspirations. However, he encouraged the youth to take charge and work towards making Turkey a leading force in the world in the 21st century.
The Role of Universities in Culture and Identity
Stressing the pivotal role of universities in shaping culture and identity, Erdoğan called for a roadmap on how to revive and maintain Turkish culture in the 21st century. He highlighted the need to draw inspiration from history to navigate the challenges of the modern era.
The Responsibility of the Youth
University Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan emphasized that it is the youth who hold the key to building Turkey’s future century, underscoring their vital role in the process.
