Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that “Star Wars: Visions Volume 3” will be released on the Disney+ platform in 2025. This award-winning anthology series, which looks at the Star Wars universe through different cultural lenses, will consist of nine short films created by eight different Japanese anime studios.
The studios selected for Volume 3 include David Production, Kamikaze Douga, ANIMA, Kinema Citrus Co., Polygon Pictures, Production I.G, Project Studio Q, TRIGGER, and WIT Studio. Four of these studios have previously worked on Star Wars: Visions projects in earlier seasons.
The projects of the other studios featured in Volume 3 are equally intriguing. David Production is known for popular anime like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Fire Force. Polygon Pictures has worked on projects like Knights of Sidonia, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, while WIT Studio is famous for critical darlings like the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, and Vinland Saga.
ANIMA is known for creating Netflix’s first animated series in Latin America, Legend Quest (Las Leyendas). Their segment in Star Wars: Visions is a collaborative effort with Kamikaze Douga. Project Studio Q has provided 3D animation support for major projects like Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time.
Disney and Lucasfilm emphasize that Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 will continue to explore the Star Wars mythology through different cultural perspectives. Each short film will offer a unique story and animation style that reflects the diversity and creativity of Japanese animation.
These new episodes that push the boundaries of the Star Wars universe are set to enchant both anime fans and Star Wars enthusiasts. Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 is expected to be one of the most ambitious projects in the series to date.
