Alexandre Lacazette Joins NEOM Sports Club in Roshn Saudi League
Former France International’s New Chapter
Alexandre Lacazette, the former France international and prolific striker, has officially signed with NEOM Sports Club, marking a significant addition to the Roshn Saudi League (RSL). The announcement was made on Tuesday, as the newly promoted club aims to make a strong impression in their inaugural season in the top flight.
A Stellar Career at Lyon and Arsenal
Lacazette, who is celebrated as the second-highest scorer in Olympique Lyon’s history, will play a pivotal role in helping NEOM SC establish themselves in the league. The club secured their promotion to the 2025-26 RSL by triumphing in last season’s First Division League, a feat orchestrated by former Al Taawoun manager Pericles Chamusca.
In a vibrant social media post, NEOM SC welcomed Lacazette, stating: “From the cradle of heritage in Lyon to the frontier of the future at NEOM SC. Sharpshooter [Alexandre Lacazette] has arrived.”
Impressive Stats and Achievements
At 34 years old, Lacazette brings a wealth of experience to the squad. He enjoyed two successful spells at Lyon, sandwiched around a five-year tenure at Arsenal in the English Premier League, which began in 2017. During his time in England, Lacazette netted 54 goals in 158 Premier League appearances and played a crucial role in Arsenal’s victory in the 2020 FA Cup final alongside current Al Qadsiah striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Joining a Talented Roster
Lacazette’s arrival adds to a growing list of notable former Lyon players in the Saudi Arabian league, including his new NEOM SC teammate Said Benrahma, as well as Al Ittihad’s title-winning duo, Karim Benzema and Houssem Aouar.
In addition to Lacazette, NEOM SC recently announced the signing of Ivorian midfielder Amadou Kone from Reims, further strengthening their squad as they prepare for the challenges ahead in the RSL.
This exciting development not only highlights Lacazette’s transition to a new league but also underscores the increasing allure of the Roshn Saudi League as a destination for top football talent.
