Caitlin Clark Returns to Indiana Fever, But Team Falls to Golden State Valkyries

Fever Struggles Despite Clark’s Comeback

The Indiana Fever welcomed back All-Star guard Caitlin Clark to their starting lineup after she missed five games due to a groin injury. Unfortunately, her return did not spark the team, as they suffered a disappointing 80-61 loss to the Golden State Valkyries, bringing their season record to 9-10.

In her first game back since June 24, Clark managed to score 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting, along with six assists and five rebounds. Despite the loss, Clark expressed her relief at being back on the court, stating, "It felt good to be out there. It’s going to take me a second to get my wind back."

The Challenge of Recovery

Clark acknowledged the difficulties of returning to play after her second injury of the season. "It’s obviously hard sitting out," she said, reflecting on the mental toll of her injuries. Earlier in the season, she had also dealt with a quad injury that kept her sidelined for five games. Having missed 10 of the team’s 19 games this season, Clark admitted that the 2025 campaign has been particularly challenging.

"It’s honestly been hard, I’m not gonna lie to you," she shared. "It’s difficult going to prepare for games, but knowing you’re not going to be playing in them. Just trying to get my body as healthy as I can be and remain confident in myself."

Looking Ahead

The Fever will look to bounce back from this latest defeat when they face the Atlanta Dream on July 11. This matchup will mark the fourth meeting between the two teams this season, with the Dream currently holding a 2-1 advantage.

As Clark continues to regain her form, fans will be eager to see how she and the Fever respond in their upcoming games.
